Life Comes Back to Wellington City

Life Comes Back to Wellington City

It’s fabulous to see the city coming alive again, particularly at the Government end of Lambton Quay and The Terrace, after a hard couple of years for business, due to the implications of COVID-19.

Lockdowns and traffic light settings have had almost all staff at government departments and agencies working remotely, with a real impact on local businesses as a result. Cafés, restaurants, service providers and other local businesses like Meetings on The Terrace have all been impacted, as we all depend on the locals that work in and around Wellington city.

Changes under the Orange COVID-19 traffic light setting

With the recent shift to the orange traffic light setting we are now starting to see staff returning to all the various offices at the northern end of The Terrace and Lambton Quay. More and more people are back in our favourite cafés, lunch spots and retail stores. Service providers like nail salons and hairdressers are also benefiting from growing customer numbers, while the footpaths begin to fill up again.

Numbers Picking Up

Here at Meetings on The Terrace, we’re pleased to say our bookings for conference venues, meeting rooms and function rooms are starting to pick up substantially from May. It seems like many government departments and agencies that would make regular use of our Wellington venues for meetings, conferences, job interviews and the like are trying to catch up on lost time – and we’re glad to have you back.

If you are back at the office and are thinking about booking space at our venue for a meeting, conference or function, contact us today to discuss your needs. We are one of just a few Wellington meeting rooms venues at the Government end of town, and having a great location means we are a popular choice as the bustle returns to Wellington city.

With smaller meeting rooms such as our Mākaro Interview Room and The Terrace Conference Room that can comfortably accommodate 6-10 people, right up to our Matiu Lecture Room and Poneke Seminar Room which can be joined together to seat 75 in a café style layout, we have options that work for everyone. Take a look at the Rooms page on our website to see what’s available.

We also offer a range of equipment in all our meeting rooms to make it easy for you to get the most out of our venue. Find out more about the equipment we can provide and hire prices here.

Meetings on The Terrace is walking distance from many offices on The Terrace, Bowen Street and the northern end of Lambton Quay. We’re located right beside the exit of The Terrace exit to the Wellington motorway, and there is lots of long-term parking close by. We are close to lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants, and can provide catering to any meetings, functions or events that we host, if required.
